New trial bid falls flat
A Pottsville man has been denied a new trial in Schuylkill County Court.
Alexis Paul, who is serving time in state prison on drug-related charges, alleged that his attorney did not provide adequate representation and that prejudicial remarks were made about him being in prison.
During a hearing before Common Pleas Judge Charles Miller ruled that Paul does not deserve a new trial and that he received adequate representation in the original case.
According to the Pottsville Republican and Herald, Paul was arrested by Pottsville police in October, 2003, where they found cocaine and marijuana. He was convicted on possession and related charges during a jury trial in May, 2004.
