Schuylkill County Fair has new royalty

The Schuylkill County Fair has new royalty.

Contestants for Queen, Princess and Little Miss took to the stage yesterday, in hopes of winning the crown at the 2006 edition of the fair in Summit Station.

Nicki Davis of Pottsville was named Queen of the Fair. Lindsey Ahronian of Tamaqua earned the Princess crown, and Rhonda Carl was named Little Miss of the 23rd edition of the Schuylkill County Fair.

Despite the oppressive heat and humidity, there was a large crowd in attendance at Family Day, which provided reduced admission to enjoy all of the fair's activities.

On the M&T Bank stage last night, Shawn Klush, a Pittston native and one of the nation’s best known Elvis Tribute artists, rocked the house with old time rock and roll favorites and hits of the King.

Today is Kids Day at the fair, with a number of contests and activities for youngsters, and reduced admission for children 12 and under. On the main stage, it's the music of Exile, who are famous for such hits as "Kiss You All Over".
