Schuylkill County Idol winner announced

A Minersville woman has won the title of Schuylkill County Idol.

After final performances of the three contestants Monday, Ashley Firestine won the competition at the Schuylkill Mall.

Firestine performed Broadway tunes and wowed the audience in her victory. She earned a variety of prizes, including a $1-thousand-dollar shopping spree from the Schuylkill Mall, and the opportunity to perform Saturday night, opening for Felix Cavaliere's Rascals, at the Schuylkill County Fair.
