Crash in Pottsville

A Pottsville woman is suspected of driving under the influence following a crash in the city Monday.

Pottsville police were called to the intersection of Mill Creek Avenue and Route 61 just before 9pm in response to an accident.

30-year-old Amy Filiziani of Frackville apparently failed to stop her vehicle at a red light and struck the rear of a Jeep Cherokee driven by William Jones of Tamaqua, which was stopped at a traffic light in the right hand lane facing south on Route 61.

Filiziani fled the scene, but was caught quickly on North Centre Street. A passenger in Jones' vehicle had minor neck pain.

Filiziani was taken to Pottsville Hospital for chemical testing to determine blood alcohol content.
