BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - Israel's war against Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon has expanded into the country's Christian heartland north of Beirut. At least four civilians are reported dead today in airstrikes that knocked out bridges. A Lebanese soldier was killed in an air raid near the airport.
UNDATED (AP) - President Bush has begun an abbreviated August vacation at his ranch in Texas. The ten days he's planning there makes it his shortest summer break since taking office. The officeof Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair says he's putting off his vacation to work on the Middle East crisis.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Tens of thousands of young Iraqis are staging a pro-Hezbollah rally in the streets of Baghdad today.They're dressed in white shrouds to show their willingness to become martyrs, and are shouting "Death to Israel" and "Death to America."
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - More than a thousand South Korean Christians kicked out of Afghanistan are vowing to return. The government accuses them of trying to undermine Afghanistan's Islamic culture and customs.
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Tropical Storm Chris should soon be a memory. It's just barely a storm this morning, buffeting the eastern Caribbean with not-quite 40-mile-an-hour winds. Chris still poses a flooding and mudslide threat for a number of islands.
