Deadline approaching to apply for disaster unemployment assistance

FEMA and PEMA have announced the deadlines for residents to apply for Disaster unemployment assistance.

Residents living in Schuylkill County, who have experienced a loss of employment or income due to the June flood may be eligible. The program is intended to assist individuals who have experienced a loss of employment as a result of a disaster, who would normally not be eligible for traditional unemployment assistance. Self-employed individuals, farmers and others who have had a work interruption due to the disaster may apply.

If you worked in Schuylkill or other counties designated as disaster areas, may qualify for up to 26 weeks of assistance. The deadline to apply in Schuylkill County is today.
