Lykens man arrested in incident at local motel

A Lykens man was injured after an incident at a Schuylkill Haven area motel.

State police at Schuylkill Haven report that on Friday night, 22-year-old Shaun Melendez, his wife and several friends were staying at the Country Squire Motel for the night. Melendez became combative and punched through a window, suffering cuts on his right arm.

When troopers arrived, Melendez gave them a rough time while taking him into custody. He was taken to Pottsville Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He will be charged with criminal mischief, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
