08/14/06 2 MEN ARRESTED FOR POTATO PRODUCTS BURGLARY

2 MEN WERE ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTING TO BURGLARIZE KEYSTONE POTATO PRODUCTS AND STEAL TWO MOTORCYCLES FROM INSIDE THE BUILDING. ACCORDING TO STATE POLICE AT SCH. HAVEN 21 YEAR OLD JOHN EDWARDS OF HEGINS AND 21 YEAR OLD MICHAEL LISOWSKI ARRIVED AT THE SCENE IN EDWARDS VEHICLE AND FORCED OPEN A BAY DOOR AND PROCEDED TO CRAWL INTO THE BUILDING THROUGH THE OPENING. AN EMPLOYEE WHO ENTERED THE PARKING LOT NOTICED THE OPEN GATE TO THE LOT CAUSING THE SUSPECTS TO FLEE THE SCENE BY VEHICLE. THE TWO WERE APPREHENDED AND ARRAIGNED BEFORE DIDTRICT JUDGE DAVID PLACHKO FOR BURGLARY. CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY,AND CRIMINAL ATTEPT TO COMMIT THEFT. BAIL WAS SET AT $25,000 WHICH THEY WERE BOTH UNABLE TO POST .THEY WERE ALSO IN VIOLATION OF PAROLE AND WERE REMANDED TO SCH. COUNTY PRISON.


08/14/06 A TAMAQUA MAN FACES DUI CHARGES AFTER AN ACCIDENT IN EAST BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP

STATE POLICE AT FRACKVILLE REPORT THAT 33 YEAR OLD SEAN MALONE WAS TRAVELING ON ROUTE 443 SATURDAY AFTERNNON WHEN HE LOST CONTROLL OF HIS VEHICLE . ACCORDING TO REPORTS MALONE VEERED INTO THE SOUTH BERM, TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROLL AND TRAVELLED ACROSS BOTH LANED OF THE ROAD IN A SIDEWAYS MOTION.MALONES VEHICLE THEN STRUCK THE GUIDERAILS ON THE NORTH BERM AND CAME TO A REST ON THE GUIDERAILS. POLICE SAY MALONE DISPLAYED SIGNS OF BEING INTOXICATED AND WAS ARRESTED FOR DUI.CHARGES WILL BEFILED WITH DISTRICT JUDGE JAMES FERRIER PENDING THE RESULTS OF A BLOOD TEST CONDUCTED AT THE POTTSVILLE HOSPITAL.


08/14/06 A POTTSVILLE WOMAN IS HURT IN CITY CRASH SUNDAY

A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN POTTSVILLE SENT A WOMAN TO THE HOSPITAL SUNDAY. ACCORDING TO POTTSVILLE POLICE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AROUND 1:30 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 12TH AND MARKET STREETS IN THE CITY. POLICE SAY THAT CHERYL HAAS OF POTTSVILLE WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON 12TH STREET AND RICHARD BOBKIN WAS TRAVELING WEST ON MARKET STREET WHEN BOBKIN PRECEDED TO RUN A RED LIGHT AND IMPACTED THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HAAS’S VEHICLE. HAAS WAS TAKEN TO POTTSVILLE HOSPITAL BUT THERE WAS NO NEWS ON THE EXTENT OF HAAS’S INJURIES. BOBKIN WILL BE CITED FOR A RED LIGHT VIOLATION .


08/14/06 THE GREAT POTTSVILLE CRUISE WRAPS UP A GREAT WEEKEND FOR CAR ENTHUSIASTS

CAR ENTHUSIASTS WERE OUT IN FULL FORCE SUNDAY FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL GREAT POTTSVILLE CRUISE. BEGINNING IN THE AFTERNOON HUNDREDS OF CARS FILLED THE MARTZ HALL PARKING LOT FOR STAGING AND JUDGING. CRUISE CHAIRMAN JERRY ENDERS SAID WAS THE BEST TURNOUT THAT THEY EVER HAD.THE CRUISE BEGAN AT 4PM WITH THE BATMOBLE LEAD THE CRUISE.CHILDREN LINING MARKET STREET WERE WAVING FERVENTLY AT BATMAN WHO RODE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE FAMOUS CAR. LEE KELLNER OF LANSDALE TOOK HOME THE BEST OF CRUISE AWARD FOR HIS 1934 FORD CABRIOLET. CHARLIE RATLIFF OF NEWMANSTOWN WON THE 1950S BEST OF CRUISE AWARD FOR HIS 1952 CHEVY CONVERTIBLE. THE WINNERS OF THE 2006 CRUISE CAR PICKED DURING A DRAWING SUNDAY EVENING WERE DONALD AND JOSEPHINE MEHLMAN. TO TOP OFF THE GREAT CRUISE ON SUNDAY WERE FIREWORKS THAT MARKED THE END OF A LONG DAY FOR CRUISERS AND CRUISE STAFF.
