ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A shutdown at one of the nation's largest oil fields is triggering fears of higher gas prices. B-P is closing its Prudhoe Bay wells in Alaska indefinitely because of a pipeline leak. Analysts say that could cause oil prices to go up by ten-dollars a barrel.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - American cyclist Floyd Landis says his comeback at the Tour de France is legitimate and he continues to deny doping allegations. Tests on two urine samples both showed elevated levels of testosterone. Landis tells N-B-C the tests have been misrepresented in the media.
BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - More than 40 people are dead today after an Israeli attack on a Lebanese border village. Prime Minister Fuad Saniora broke into tears during opening remarks to Arab League foreign ministers appealing to them for help. Meantime, the U-N Security Council is moving closer toward a cease-fire agreement.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio Congressman Bob Ney has announced he won't seek re-election. The Republican is dogged by an influence-peddling probe in Washington. Ney has insisted he would not resign, even if he's indicted over his dealing with now-convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - A new poll shows Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman is closing the gap in tomorrow's Democratic primary. The Quinnipiac University poll shows political newcomer Ned Lamont's lead over Lieberman is down to six percentage points. Last week the Greenwich businessman was leading by 13.
