Country Day at Schuylkill County Fair
The weather may have cooled off, but the entertainment was really hot at the Schuylkill County Fair last night.
Friday was Country Day at the 23rd Annual Great Schuylkill County Fair in Summit Station.
Entertainment on the M&T Bank stage was full-bore, no holes barred country music, with opening band The McKabes rockin' the house with their wild brand of music. The nightcap featured multi-platinum recording artist Tracy Byrd.
The Beaumont, Texas native did not disappoint fairgoers, who numbered in the thousands. His mix of cowboy country ballads, and country rock kept the crowd begging for more. The 75-minute set featured many of his hits, plus new music from the upcoming CD "Different Things". That disc will hit the streets on October 31st.
Today is the final day of the 2006 fair. Its Oldies Day, featuring the music of Shake, Rattle and Soul at 7, Schuylkill County Idol Ashley Firestine at 8 and oldies great Felix Cavaliere's Rascals to close the fair at 9pm.
The fairgrounds are located on Route 895, Summit Station.
