50 TEENAGERS FROM 34 PA COUNTIES HAVE BEEN INVITED TO LEARN ABOUT STATE POLICE OPERATIONS AT THE COMMISSIONER’S HONOR CAMP THIS WEEK AT THE STATE POLICE ACADEMY IN HERSHEY. THE YOUTHS, AGES 13-18 WERE SELECTED FROM AMONG MORE THAN 1500 BOYS AND GIRLS WHO9 PARTICIPATED IN 26 LOCAL CAMP CADET PROGRAMS LAST YEAR. THE HONOR CAMP WAS CREATED IN 1998 AS A REWARD FOR THE TOP 2 CADETS FROM EACH LOCAL PROGRAM. TROOPERS TEACH HONOR CADETS ABOUT CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS, POLICE SKILLS, USE OF FORCE AND OTHER RELATED TOPICS.

RUNNING A TEST.
THEY PLAN TO PROBE THE BUSTED BLOWOUT PREVENTER WITH AN OIL-LIKE
LIQUID TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT CAN HANDLE THE SEALING-UP PROCESS,
CALLED A "STATIC KILL." IF IT CAN, THEN ENGINEERS PLAN TO SPEND
TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY PUMPING HEAVY MUD DOWN THE WELL. THEN THEY
WANT TO SEAL IT UP FROM THE TOP END WITH CONCRETE. THE SAME THING
WOULD BE DONE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL WEEKS LATER.

PLAYING IN THE RED RIVER MONDAY EVENING AND STEPPED OVER A SUDDEN
DROP-OFF TO 20 FEET DEEP. HE SAYS THE TEENS RANGED IN AGE FROM 13
TO 18.
SANDERS SAYS THE TEENS WERE WITH ADULTS, BUT NONE IN THE GROUP
COULD SWIM.
HE SAYS HE BELIEVES THEY WERE FROM TWO FAMILIES - THREE BROTHERS
IN ONE FAMILY, AND TWO BROTHERS AND A SISTER IN THE OTHER.
