CAPITOL HILL (AP) - Even as the House continues to debate a resolution opposing President Bush's military buildup in Iraq, all parties are beginning to focus on Bush's request for nearly 100 (b) billion dollars more for the war. Bush says he'll make clear to Congress that it must give the troops the funds they need to do their jobs.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A security crackdown in Iraq is widening. A Sunni neighborhood in Baghdad is being searched by U-S and Iraqi troops today, a day after Shiite areas faced similar scrutiny. And Iraqi and British forces in southern Iraq have closed border crossings with Iran.
ATLANTA (AP) - Tainted peanut butter is being blamed for a salmonella outbreak that has grown to nearly 300 cases in 39 states since August. The F-D-A is warning consumers not to eat certain jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter. Those jars have a product code on the lid that begins with the number "two-one-one-one."
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida judge says Anna Nicole Smith's body belongs to him right now, as he tries to sort through a thicket of claims to her decomposing corpse. Smith's longtime companion and her mother each hope to win control, while an ex-boyfriend wants her D-N-A to press a paternity claim. A court hearing resumes this morning.
WASHINGTON (AP) - First came the Susan B. Anthony dollar, then the Sacagawea dollar, and now comes the presidential dollar coin. The first one out today features George Washington. Every three months, there'll be a new version of the dollar coin featuring presidents in the order they served.
