MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Somali officials and witnesses say the U-S carried out at least two airstrikes against terror targets in Somalia. There are reports of casualties including a four-year-old boy. Somalia's president says the U-S has the right to retaliate against attackers.
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush will lay out his new course for Iraq in a prime-time speech to the nation tomorrow night. Republicans who have been briefed say he will deploy more troops. Democrats today will propose that Congress has to agree first before more funding is provided for that purpose.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says "everyone in California must have health insurance." He is proposing that health coverage be extended to all residents by spreading the cost among businesses, individuals, hospitals, insurers and the government.
WASHINGTON (AP) - A new report says spending on health care grew at its slowest pace in 2005 than in the six previous years. Officials attribute it to increased use of generic prescription drugs. States have been able to negotiate lower prices for drugs provided through Medicaid.
CAPITOL HILL (AP) - The House this week is expected to resume debate on a bill that would expand taxpayer-funded embryonic stem cell research. The debate comes amid new research that suggests
stem cells can be extracted from amniotic fluid as well as from human embryos.
