WASHINGTON (AP) - As President Bush puts the finishing touches on a revised Iraq war strategy, leading Democrats are urging him not to send in more troops. Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Joe Biden said that would be a "tragic mistake." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggests the new Congress could deny him the funding.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Nine days after he was executed, Saddam Hussein's trial for the killing of 180-thousand Kurds has resumed in Baghdad. The court's first order of business was to drop all charges against Saddam, who was put to death for the killing of Iraqi Shiites.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The weather continues to make news in Colorado, with wind gusts near 90 miles per hour west of Denver. The winds created snowdrifts of up to four feet. Colorado has been battered by a series of snowstorms since the week before Christmas.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Indonesia's warm tropical waters helped 14 people survive nine days at sea after their ferry sank. They were rescued by a passing cargo ship after drifting almost 370 miles. About 400 people are presumed dead from the December 29th disaster.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Americans believe Japanese-made cars are better, even though auto industry analysts say American-made cars now perform nearly as well as those made in Japan. Still, an A-P-A-O-L Autos poll found 39 percent of Americans prefer to buy American, compared to 17 percent who would rather buy foreign.
