CAPITOL HILL (AP) - It's taken more than 200 years but today is the day the first woman will be chosen Speaker of the House as Democrats take the helm in Congress. Nancy Pelosi of California says women haven't just waited for the chance, they've worked for it. Pelosi says children will be a priority.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) - The new Democratic-led House is scheduled to begin voting today on stricter ethics rules. They would expand current bans on some privately financed trips, eliminate gifts from lobbyists, prohibit travel on corporate jets and require greater public disclosure of targeted special interest legislation.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A mainly Sunni neighborhood in western Baghdad is the latest target of a deadly attack. Iraqi police say two car bombs exploded in the upscale neighborhood today, killing 13 people and wounding at least 25.

LAMAR, Colo. (AP) - An intense relief effort continues in the snow-covered southeastern Plains. Ranchers, pilots and snowmobilers are racing to provide hay and drinking water to thousands of stranded cattle. The Colorado National Guard is set to resume air drops and truck deliveries today.

NEW YORK (AP) - A Harlem construction worker says he has no regrets about jumping onto a subway track to rescue a fallen stranger. But looking back, Wesley Autrey says even he's a bit surprised about his split-second decision. Autrey pushed a young man into a gap in the rails as the train passed over them.
