LONDON (AP) - Britain's army chief says British troops stand "shoulder to shoulder" with U-S forces in Iraq despite his published call for a British troop withdrawal "sometime soon." The general was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying the British presence "exacerbates" Iraq's security problems.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - The Red Cross says it has had private visits with 14 terror suspects who recently arrived at Guantanamo Bay. They include the alleged masterminds of Nine-Eleven, the Cole attack and the U-S Embassy bombings in Africa.

WHITE HOUSE (AP) - President Bush will sign a bill today that is designed to enhance security at America's ports. The legislation requires the nation's 22 largest ports, which handle 98 percent of all cargo entering the country, to install radiation detectors by the end of next year.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican Bob Ney of Ohio could use a court appearance today to resign from Congress. Ney will admit taking trips, tickets to sporting events and perks in exchange for helping Jack Abramoff's clients.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Even for Buffalo, New York, it's a little early for snow. But the city got a record eight inches yesterday, with 14 inches now on the ground at the airport, and two feet on the ground in some places. About 155-thousand customers lost power.
