SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - China's Foreign Ministry says North Korea's nuclear test would damage ties between the two allies. China also says it's "firmly against" a military strike. A South Korean envoy just returned from Beijing says China appears to be leaning toward backing strong U-N measures.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Bush administration is hoping a high-profile school violence summit today in Washington will get the word out about safety. President Bush called the conference. He says following last week's Amish school shooting, Americans have a responsibility to keep their kids safe in class.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The F-B-I is expecting to interview a former congressional page today who may have received suggestive electronic messages from disgraced congressman Mark Foley. Jordan Edmund's attorney says the questioning is being done in Oklahoma, because Edmund is now working on a political campaign.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The Georgia woman who became known as the "runaway bride" is suing her former fiance for a half-million dollars. Jennifer Wilbanks is asking for 250-thousand dollars as her share of a home John Mason purchased with money they got for selling their story to an agent.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The American League Championship Series gets under way tonight with Game One between Oakland and Detroit. The Athletics are home for the first two games of the best-of-seven series. Nate Robertson pitches tonight for the Tigers. Barry Zito takes the hill for the A's.
