A water boil advisory is in effect until further notice for some customers of the Blythe Township Water Authority. A water main break has forced the authority to request customers who live in Phoenix Park and Llewellyn to boil their water for 1 minute before consumption.

A Pottsville man had to make an unexpected landing on Interstate 81 Saturday evening.
Another big event celebrating Pottsville's 200th birthday is coming up this weekend. If you like the sounds of the big band era, this event is right up your alley. The Pottsville Bicentennial is hosting "A Night to Remember", featuring the Bill Hicks Big Band Saturday from 8 to 11pm at Pine View Acres. The cost for tickets is $20 per person in advance, and $25 dollars at the door, with proceeds benefiting the Pottsville. Bicentennial Parade, which will be held October 7th. The event is being underwritten by a gift from the Pottsville law firm Williamson, Friedberg and Jones.


An ultra-light plane flown by 46-year-old Christopher Yoder had to make an emergency landing on the interstate near the Minersville exit, in close proximity to the Schuylkill County airport. The plane had to be towed back to the airport following the landing. The Federal Aviation Administration was notified of the incident. No one was injured.

A Minersville man was charged following an incident Saturday night in Butler Township.
34-year-old Robert Kane was observed driving at a high rate of speed on State Route 4030 and through the borough of Girardville. When Frackville troopers stopped him, they believed he was driving under the influence. A breath test was issued, and he was found to be under the legal limit. Charges against Kane were filed in District Court.


State police are looking for a burglar who robbed an Arnots Addition home over the past three weeks. Between August 25th and last Saturday, someone broke into the home of Amy Reed on Broad Street and took over one-thousand-dollars in computer and stereo equipment. If anyone has information about the robbery, they can call 800-426-TIPS. Information leading to the arrest of the thief could pay up to $2-thousand-dollars.
