BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The lead prosecutor had already accused the chief judge in Saddam Hussein's genocide trial of being biased toward Saddam. And today, the judge said he did not believe Saddam was a dictator. The judge said people around Saddam made him look that way.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) - President Bush is seeking support from House Republicans for his anti-terror legislation. He'll make his case on Capitol Hill today. About the same time, the Senate Armed Services Committee will be working on an alternative to Bush's plan for interrogating terror suspects.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Former Texas Governor Ann Richards is being remembered today for her zest for life and her contribution to opening government to women and minorities. Richards died last night of cancer at age 73. She once remarked that Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, "only backwards and in high heels."

WASHINGTON (AP) - The government's top traffic safety official says it could be the best thing for auto safety since the seatbelt. The government is announcing today that it will require automakers to include electronic stability control devices on all new vehicles by 2012.

BRIER, Wash. (AP) - The former mayor of the Seattle suburb of Brier has been charged in connection with the death of a police officer who responded to a medical emergency in his home. Dispatchers had warned that a diabetic man in the home had a history of being aggressive when he needed medical assistance.
