BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Bombings and mortar attacks aimed at police have killed at least 28 people in Baghdad today. In one attack, 19 people died near the headquarters of the traffic police department. Later, eight were killed when a bomb exploded as a police patrol went by.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The chief prosecutor in Saddam Hussein's genocide trial is demanding that the presiding judge step down. He accuses the judge of showing bias toward Saddam for letting him speak. After listening to testimony about atrocities against the Kurds, Saddam vowed to crush their heads.
UNDATED (AP) - Incumbent Republican Senator Lincoln Chafee has won his primary in a closely watched race in Rhode Island. In Minnesota, a Muslim has won the Democratic nomination for a House seat in a district that's reliably Democratic. Keith Ellison would be the first Muslim in Congress.
JOHNSON SPACE CENTER, Houston (AP) - Two Atlantis astronauts will begin a spacewalk this hour high above the Earth. It's the second of three spacewalks devoted to attaching a new addition to the international space station.
SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - Plans are shaping up for a public memorial to "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin next week. Irwin's widow says the memorial will be held at his family's wildlife park and broadcast on television. A private funeral was held on Saturday.
