FOUR INJURED IN TREVORTON CRASH
FOUR PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO AREA HOSPITALS FOLLOWING A CRASH IN NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY. THAT HAPPENED AROUND EIGHT THURSDAY NIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION OF TENTH AND WEST SHAMOKIN STREET IN TREVORTON. POLICE SAY 40 YEAR OLD LAURIE BUSS OF TREVORTON PULLED INTO THE PATH OF A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY 31 YEAR OLD HEATHER LOCKNER OF SHAMOKIN. LOCKNER'S VEHICLE THEN FLIPPED OVER, HITTING TWO PARKED VEHICLES. POLICE SAY BUSS, LOCKNER'S TWO PASSENGERS, 22 YEAR OLD JESSICE THEURER AND 23 YEAR OLD ALEX KOSINSKI WERE TAKEN TO EITHER SHAMOKIN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OR GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER FOR TREATMENT.

ROAD CREWS CONTINUED THROUGH THE NIGHT REMOVING PILES OF SNOW FROM STREETS ACROSS THE REGION DURING THE BIG STORM DIG OUT. MAIN ROADS ARE CLEAR FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE, BUT SECONDARY AND TERTIARY ROADWAYS ARE STILL PARTIALLY SNOW COVERED. MANY COMMUNITIES REMAIN UNDER SNOW EMERGENCY, AND A NUMBER OF THE COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED FOR A THIRD STRAIGHT DAY. EVEN THOUGH WE HAD TWO FEET OF SNOW AND WINDY CONDITIONS OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS, POWER OUTAGES WERE KEPT TO A MINIMUM. THAT WAS UNTIL A LINE CAME DOWN IN THE ORWIGSBURG AREA THURSDAY AFTERNOON. PPL ELECTRIC CREWS HAD TO TACKLE A DOWNED LINE WHICH CAUSED NEARLY 2-THOUSAND CUSTOMERS TO BE WITHOUT POWER. PPL OFFICIALS SAID MOST OF THE AFFECTED CUSTOMERS HAD SERVICE RESTORED WITHIN AN HOUR, AND THE REMAINDER SHORTLY THEREAFTER. NO POWER OUTAGES WERE REPORTED BY PPL THIS MORNING.
