MAN SOUGHT FOR THROWING WOMAN FROM CAR

STATE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR A MARYLAND MAN WHO PUSHED HIS PASSENGER OUT OF THE CAR ON INTERSTATE 81. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED IN KLINE TOWNSHIP EARLY SUNDAY. THEY WERE DRIVING AROUND 2AM WHEN THE MAN AND 23 YEAR OLD SARAH TERRY BEGAN ARGUING, AND TERRY WAS PUNCHED IN THE FACE, AND PUSHED FROM THE CAR. TERRY WAS TAKEN TO LEHIGH VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER FOR TREATMENT, THEN RELEASED. THE DRIVER, WHO HASN'T BEEN IDENTIFIED, WAS DRIVING A MAROON DODGE STRATUS WITH MARYLAND LICENSE PLATES. THE INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING.

AUBURN TEEN ARRESTED

AN INTOXICATED TEENAGER HAS BEEN ARRESTED ON A HOST OF COUNTS FOLLOWING A WEEKEND INCIDENT. STATE POLICE AT SCHUYLKILL HAVEN SAY 18 YEAR OLD TESSA JERONIS WAS REPORTEDLY DRUNK AT GOODFELLA'S CAFE IN MOUNT CARBON. WHEN POLICE ARRIVED, JERONIS BECAME UNRULY, YELLING AND SCREAMING IN THE LOBBY OF THE BAR. SHE CONTINUED THAT UNRULY BEHAVIOR IN THE PATROL CAR, AND REPORTEDLY URINATED IN THE HOLDING AREA AT THE STATE POLICE BARRACKS. JERONIS IS CHARGED WITH PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS, UNDERAGE DRINKING AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT.

FRAUDULENT CHECK SCHEME

THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND STATE POLICE ARE WARNING PEOPLE ABOUT A POSSIBLE CHECK SCAM. A WOMAN IN PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP REPORTEDLY RECEIVED A CHECK FOR $10-THOUSAND-DOLLARS MADE OUT TO HER LATE FATHER WITH THE NAME CHASE BANK ON THE LETTERHEAD. THE BOGUS LETTER INSTRUCTED THE WOMAN TO CASH THE CHECK AND SEND SOME OF THE MONEY BACK TO THE FINANCIAL AID COMPANY. THAT AMOUNT WOULD BE REIMBURSED TO HER UPON RECEIPT. THE ENTIRE DOCUMENT TURNED OUT TO BE BOGUS. ANYONE RECEIVING SIMILAR DOCUMENTS SHOULD CALL THE PA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AT 800-441-2555.

TEENS ESCAPE INJURY IN A VEHICLE FIRE IN BARRY TOWNSHIP

FIVE TEENAGERS ESCAPED INJURY WHEN THEIR CAR CAUGHT FIRE SUNDAY NIGHT IN BARRY TOWNSHIP. STATE POLICE SAY 19 YEAR OLD TUCKER FISHER AND HIS FOUR PASSENGERS WERE DRIVING ON STATE ROUTE 901 WHEN HE SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE CAR. HE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND GOT EVERYONE OUT BEFORE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BURNED UP. TRAFFIC HAD TO BE STOPPED ON ROUTE 901 UNTIL THE FIRE COULD BE PUT OUT. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT 7:30 LAST NIGHT.

WASHINGTON, PA. (AP) - JURORS WILL BE SELECTED TODAY TO HEAR THE MURDER TRIAL OF EUGENE NAGY. THE 37-YEAR-OLD DONORA MAN IS CHARGED WITH THE 2007 BEATING DEATHS OF VINCE TROTTA AND YVONNE HELTON IN TROTTA'S APARTMENT IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. NAGY FACES LIFE IN PRISON IF CONVICTED.

OXFORD, PA. (AP) - A 28-YEAR-OLD MAN CHARGED WITH THE STABBING DEATH OF HIS MOTHER AT A HOME IN LINCOLN UNIVERSITY IS LOCKED UP WITHOUT BAIL. STATE POLICE SAY IAN DRISCOLL WENT TO A NEIGHBOR'S HOME COVERED IN BLOOD AND HOLDING A SCREWDRIVER AND SAID THERE HAD BEEN AN INCIDENT AT HIS HOME. POLICE WENT TO THE HOUSE AND FOUND THE BODY OF 49-YEAR-OLD LISA DRISCOLL.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI (AP) - CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN PHILADELPHIA IS TREATING THREE CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN FROM THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE IN HAITI. A 5-YEAR-OLD GIRL WITH TETANUS, A 14-MONTH-OLD BOY WITH PNEUMONIA, AND A BABY WITH A 3RD-DEGREE BURN FROM SUN EXPOSURE WERE
FLOWN TO THE HOSPITAL ON A PRIVATE JET.

BRADDOCK, PA. (AP) - A SUBURBAN PITTSBURGH HOSPITAL HAS CLOSED ITS DOORS DESPITE PROTESTS AND LEGAL EFFORTS BY LOCAL RESIDENTS TO KEEP THE MORE THAN ONE-CENTURY-OLD HOSPITAL OPEN. RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - AT LEAST 4 DEATHS IN NORTH CAROLINA HAVE BEEN BLAMED ON THE LATEST WINTER STORM. ONE MAN WAS KILLED WHEN HE WAS STRUCK BY A SNOW PLOW. ANOTHER PERSON DIED WHEN HE SLIPPED AND FELL IN THE SNOW WHILE TAKING A WALK IN A WOODED AREA. TWO OTHERS DIED SHOVELING SNOW.

MIAMI (AP) - THE U.S. MILITARY IS PLANNING TO RESUME AIRLIFTS THAT HAVE BROUGHT HUNDREDS OF HAITIANS INJURED IN THE EARTHQUAKE TO THE UNITED SATES FOR TREATMENT. THE MILITARY HAD CANCELED AIRLIFTS LAST WEEK AFTER FLORIDA OFFICIALS ASKED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR HELP IN PAYING THE COST OF TREATING VICTIMS.

JERUSALEM (AP) - ISRAEL'S MILITARY REPORTEDLY HAS PUNISHED TWO HIGH-RANKING OFFICERS FOR APPROVING THE USE OF WHITE PHOSPHORUS SHELLS AT THE END OF THE GAZA WAR LAST YEAR. AN ISRAELI NEWSPAPER REPORTS THAT AN INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THAT THE OFFICERS ENDANGERED HUMAN LIFE BY FIRING THE HIGHLY INCENDIARY MUNITIONS TOWARD A COMPOUND RUN BY A U.N. AID AGENCY.
