Fire heavily damages 1912 building-posted 3:20pm Saturday

Fire heavily damaged the 1912 building on the campus of Rest Haven in Schuylkill Haven this afternoon. Crews were called to the scene of the blaze around 12:30 in the abandoned buildings. Schuylkill Haven Fire Chief Robert Peel explains what they found on arrival:

The building had recently been purchased by Penn State Schuylkill Campus from Schuylkill County, and was in the process of being cleaned out. No one was working at the building at the time.
All three County Commissioners and other officials were on the scene. Commissioner Frank Staudenmeier comments on the good work of firefighters from all over Schuylkill County in battling the blaze:

The exact cause of the trash fire is unknown at this time.
