MAN SHOT IN PINE GROVE

A MAN IS HOSPITALIZED AND ANOTHER IN CUSTODY AFTER A SHOOTING IN PINE GROVE FRIDAY MORNING. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED IN ABOUT 12:30AM FRIDAY. PINE GROVE POLICE SAY JOSHUA HIPPERT WILL BE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE FOR ALLEGEDLY SHOOTING PAT BEEN. POLICE SAID THAT THE MEN HAD BEEN OUT DRINKING TOGETHER THURSDAY NIGHT AND GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT. BEEN LATER CAME TO HIPPERT'S HOME WHERE HIPPERT RETRIEVED A LONG RIFLE AND SHOT BEEN THROUGH THE CHEST. BEEN WAS FLOWN TO LEHIGH VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER WHERE HE IS REPORTED TO BE IN STABLE CONDITION. BOTH MEN ARE BELIEVED TO BE IN THEIR 20S. BEEN'S ADDRESS IS NOT KNOWN.

MACK TO ANNOUNCE FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER

A TREMONT MAN IS EXPECTED TO THROW HIS HAT INTO THE RING FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER THIS AFTERNOON. LAINE MACK, WHO HAS SERVED AS A COUNCILMAN AND PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL IS EXPECTED TO MAKE IT OFFICIAL AT THE WISCOUNT VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK AT 1PM. HIS PLATFORM IS EXPECTED TO FOCUS ON RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT. IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE MADE AT THE AMERICAN LEGION ON MAIN STREET.

INITIAL REPORT OF DEATH, ACCIDENTAL

WHILE THE INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING INTO THE DEATH OF DAVID LYNCH, THE SUSPENDED STATE TROOPER ORIGINALLY FROM MAHANOY CITY, TROOPERS HANDLING THE CASE FROM THE BLOOMSBURG BARRAKS HAVE LISTED THE MANNER OF DEATH TO BE ACCIDENTAL. LYNCH'S BODY WAS DISCOVERED WEDNESDAY IN COLUMBIA COUNTY AFTER HE WAS MISSING FOR ABOUT FIVE DAYS. AN AUTOPSY WAS PERFORMED YESTERDAY HOWEVER AN OFFICIAL MANNER OF DEATH HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED PENDING TOXICOLOGY TESTS.
 
DISPUTE OVER PARKING SPOT LEADS TO ARREST

AN ARGUMENT OVER A PARKING SPACE ON WEDNESDAY IN GIRARDVILLE LED TO A HARASSMENT CHARGE AGAINST A BOROUGH MAN. STATE POLICE AT FRACKVILLE SAID ROBERT BELFIORE AND BRANDY FAHY WERE INVOLVED IN AN ARGUMENT DURING WHICH BELFIORE ALLEGEDLY VERBALLY HARRASSED THE WOMAN. AN INVESTIGATION INTO HE EVENTS IS CONTINUING.

TROOPERS COME ACROSS PAROLE VIOLATOR

STATE POLICE AT FRACKVILLE ARRESTED A BARNSVILLE MAN WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN NEW RINGGOLD. TROPPERS SAID THEY FOUND A DISABLED VEHICLE IN THE AREA OF ROUTE 895 AND EVERGREEN DRIVE IN EAST BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP WITH RICHARD PIZZO INSIDE AS A PASSENGER. A CHECK DETERMINED THAT PIZZO WAS WANTED FOR AN ACTIVE PAROLE VIOLATION BY SCHUYLKILL COUNTY ADULT PROBATION AND HE WAS COMMITTED TO SCHUYLKILL COUNTY PRISON.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia doctor charged with running a
filthy, dangerous abortion clinic and with eight murders won't get
a free public defender. Gosnell says he did not want to sell his
properties to pay for a lawyer because he still has a child at
home. Prosecutors say the Gosnells own 17 properties in four states
plus a boat.

LITTLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in central Pennsylvania have
charged a former youth minister with sexually abusing two teenage
boys. The alleged victims, both now 21, told police in recent weeks
that they had been molested as teens by 35-year-old Jeffrey
Crosley.

YORK, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania woman jailed on charges she
raised five children in squalor and secrecy will not have contact
with a sixth child she gave birth to in prison. An attorney for
Louann Bowers had asked a judge for bail modification to enable her
to see her 2-month-old daughter. But lawyer Ron Gross told the York
Daily Record on Friday that he withdrew the request because a
doctor could not say the contact is medically necessary.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Governor Tom Corbett is heading to the
Super Bowl with the family that owns the Pittsburgh Steelers. A
spokeswoman said Corbett flew on a chartered jet to the
snow-covered Dallas area Friday with the Rooney family.

CAIRO (AP) - Protest leaders say a meeting with Egypt's prime
minister dealt only with ways to arrange President Hosni Mubarak's
departure, should he relent and leave office. They vow that
protests will continue until that happens. Protest leaders say they
discussed ways to ease Mubarak out of office so negotiations can
begin on the nation's future.

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AP) - The regional governor says the explosion
at a gas terminal in Egypt's northern Sinai Peninsula was
"sabotage." He's offered no details. Israel Radio quoted
officials at the terminal as saying that a small explosive device
was detonated. Egypt has been criticized for selling gas to Israel.

MUNICH (AP) - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has
warned regional leaders in the Middle East to be wary of a brewing
"perfect storm" of economic woes, political repression and
popular discontent. She's urging them to embrace democratic reforms
despite risks of short-term instability. Clinton spoke at an
international security conference.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says both business and
government have responsibilities to build the country's future. In
his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says government has a
responsibility to make the U.S. the best place in the world to do
business. He says companies have a responsibility to invest in the
nation's future by keeping jobs here, hiring American workers and
paying decent wages.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republicans continue to continue to criticize
President Barack Obama's economic recovery efforts. In the weekly
GOP radio and Internet address, Congressman Jeb Hensarling of Texas
says Obama is proposing to extend Washington's "spending binge"
at a time of growing budget deficits. Hensarling called for
spending cuts and fiscal reform.
