COP TRIAL WRAP UP

ONE FORMER SHENANDOAH POLICE OFFICER WAS ACQUITTED OF ALL FEDERAL CHARGES HE FACED, WHILE TWO OTHERS WERE FOUND GUILTY THURSDAY AFTER A JURY DELIBERATED FOR 14 HOURS OVER TWO DAYS. FORMER PATROLMAN JASON HAYES FACED CONSPIRACY AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE COUNTS AND WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY. FORMER CHIEF MATTHEW NESTOR FACED SIMILAR CHARGES, BUT WAS FOUND GUILTY OF CONSPIRACY AND NOT GUILTY ON THE OBSTRUCTION CHARGE. FORMER LIEUTENANT WILLIAM MOYER FACED FIVE CHARGES, BEING FOUND GUILTY OF LYING TO THE F.B.I. MOYER COMMENTED AFTER THE VERDICT WAS READ:

MOYER COULD FACE UP TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON, WHILE NESTOR COULD BE SENTENCED UP TO TWENTY YEARS. BOTH MEN WILL BE SENTENCED ON APRIL 29TH. AS FOR JASON HAYES, HE SUMMED IT UP VERY SIMPLY:

THE FEDERAL TRIAL OF THREE SHENANDOAH POLICE OFFICERS HAS ENDED WITH TWO FOUND GUILTY OF ONE COUNT EACH, WHILE A THIRD WAS ACQUITTED. IT TOOK A JURY OF EIGHT WOMEN AND FOUR MEN FOURTEEN HOURS OVER TWO DAYS TO FIND FORMER CHIEF MATTHEW NESTOR GUILTY OF CONSPIRACY AND FORMER LIEUTENANT WILLIAM MOYER GUILTY OF LYING TO THE FBI.
