INTERSTATE81 FATAL CRASH

FOR MORE THAN FIVE HOURS, EARLY TUESDAY MORNING, BOTH NORTHBOUND LANES OF INTERSTATE 81 WERE SHUT DOWN....DUE TO A FATAL CRASH. 42-YEAR-OLD ZBIGNIEW JARZAB, A TRUCK DRIVER FROM CHICAGO, WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE OF THE CRASH BY STATE POLICE TROOPER JUSTIN R. PREVOST AT ABOUT 5:55AM. PREVOST SAID JARZAB WAS DRIVING HIS TRACTOR WHEN HE DRIFTED ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD ABOUT A MILE SOUTH OF THE RAVINE EXIT. THE TRUCK TIPPED AFTER STRIKING METAL GUIDERAILS. JARZAB WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT.
 
POTTSVILLE FIRE

A FIRE THAT TORE THROUGH THE THIRD FLOOR OF A POTTSVILLE HOME TUESDAY EVENING WAS CAUSED BY A BURNING CANDLE. THE BLAZE BROKE OUT AT ABOUT 5:45PM YESTERDAY AT 715 WEST NORWEGIAN STREET. THANKFULLY THE FIRE WAS UNDER CONTROL IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES.
 
ENFORCE LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT

THE SCHUYLKILL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HAVE ASKED A JUDGE TO ENFORCE A LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT THEY SAY CONTROLLER MELINDA B. KANTNER AGREED TO AND THEN RENEGED ON. ACCORDING TO THE REPUBLICAN HERALD, DAUPHIN COUNTY SENIOR JUDGE JOSEPH H KLEINFELTER, WHO IS HANDLING THE CASE, HAS SCHEDULED A HEARING AND ARGUMENT ON THE PETITION FOR 11AM OF FRIDAY.

ALLENTOWN, PA. (AP) - AUTHORITIES IN EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA SAY FIRE HAS CLAIMED THE LIFE OF A 16-YEAR-OLD YOUTH AND SEVERELY DAMAGED FOUR ROW HOUSES. THE THREE-ALARM BLAZE WAS REPORTED SHORTLY AFTER 7 LAST NIGHT IN THE EAST END OF ALLENTOWN. ARRIVING FIRE CREWS FOUND ONE HOME ENGULFED IN FLAMES, AND THE BLAZE QUICKLY SPREAD TO THREE OTHER HOMES.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - THE PITTSBURGH CITY COUNCIL HAS GIVEN PRELIMINARY APPROVAL TO A BAN ON NATURAL GAS DRILLING WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY.
