LAWSUIT CONTINUED

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY CONTROLLER MELINDA KANTNER'S LAWSUIT AGAINST THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL NOT BE TRIED UNTIL NEXT MONTH. ON MONDAY, DAUPHIN COUNTY SENIOR JUDGE JOSEPH KLEINFELTER RESCHEDULED FOR THE 13TH OF DECEMBER. KANTNER CLAIMS THAT THE COMMISSIONERS HAVE INFRINGED ON THE POWER OF HER OFFICE.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - LONG LINES OF PEOPLE ARE WAITING TO SEE FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA AS SHE TRIES TO INSPIRE VOTERS TO SUPPORT DEMOCRATS IN A SLEW OF TOUGH RACES AROUND THE STATE. THE RALLY CAME JUST HOURS BEFORE PENNSYLVANIANS VOTE FOR A NEW U.S. SENATOR AND GOVERNOR IN TODAY'S ELECTION, AS WELL AS A CANDIDATE FOR EACH THE STATE'S 19 CONGRESSIONAL SEATS.

HARRISBURG, PA. (AP) - ELECTIONS OFFICIALS SAY 8.5 MILLION PENNSYLVANIANS ARE REGISTERED TO VOTE IN TODAY'S STATEWIDE ELECTION. THAT'S DOWN FROM THE RECORD OF 8.8 MILLION, SET TWO YEARS AGO. THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SAYS THERE ARE 4.3 MILLION REGISTERED DEMOCRATS, 3.1 MILLION REPUBLICANS AND BARELY 1 MILLION IN ALL OTHER CATEGORIES.

ERIE, PA. (AP) - A FEDERAL JURY HAS CONVICTED AN ERIE WOMAN OF HELPING OUT A BIZARRE PLOT IN WHICH A PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER WAS FORCED TO ROB A BANK WEARING A METAL BOMB COLLAR THAT EXPLODED SHORTLY AFTERWARD, KILLING HIM. THE JURY DELIBERATED OVER TWO DAYS BEFORE FINDING 61-YEAR-OLD MARJORIE DIEHL-ARMSTRONG GUILTY. SHE FACES A MANDATORY LIFE SENTENCE.

YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - A SEARCH COMMITTEE HAS NAMED THREE FINALISTS FOR THE PRESIDENCY OF MOUNT MARTY COLLEGE IN YANKTON. THE THREE FINALISTS WILL BE INTERVIEWED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON NOVEMBER 12TH. THE PRIVATE CATHOLIC COLLEGE WITH MORE THAN 1,100 STUDENTS IS LOOKING FOR A SUCCESSOR TO JAMES BARRY, WHO ANNOUNCED HIS RESIGNATION IN MARCH.

WASHINGTON (AP) - REPUBLICANS APPEAR POISED TO WIN CONTROL OF THE HOUSE IN TODAY'S MIDTERM ELECTION, AS VOTERS UNHAPPY WITH THE ECONOMY ARE LIKELY TO MAKE SOME CHANGES. SOME ANALYSTS SAY THE GOP MAY FALL JUST SHORT OF THE 10 SEATS THEY NEED TO CONTROL THE SENATE. ONE KEY SENATE RACE IS MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID'S BATTLE AGAINST SHARRON ANGLE IN NEVADA. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA'S OLD ILLINOIS SENATE SEAT IS ALSO IN PLAY.

WASHINGTON (AP) - THE SAME ANTIESTABLISHMENT WAVE PROPELLING REPUBLICANS TOWARD BIG CONGRESSIONAL GAINS MAY BE ROARING TOWARD DEMOCRATIC-HELD STATEHOUSES TOO. A RECORD 37 GOVERNORSHIPS ARE ON THE LINE TODAY AND REPUBLICANS ARE LOOKING FOR A NET PICKUP OF UP TO 12. DEMOCRATS HAVE A SHOT AT OUSTING GOP GOVERNORS IN CALIFORNIA, HAWAII, VERMONT AND MINNESOTA AND HOLDING ONTO NEW YORK, MARYLAND, COLORADO, NEW HAMPSHIRE AND ARKANSAS.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - SUSPECTED SHOOTING INTO A YARD HAVE KILLED A A 5-YEAR-OLD BOY WHO WAS SHOWING OFF HIS HALLOWEEN COSTUME. HIS GRANDFATHER, WILLIAM SHANNON TOLD THE LOS ANGELES TIMES THAT AARON SHANNON JR. DIED LAST NIGHT, HOURS AFTER HE WAS DECLARED BRAIN-DEAD BY DOCTORS AT HARBOR-UCLA MEDICAL CENTER. THE SHOOTERS REMAIN AT LARGE.

WASHINGTON (AP) - THE SUPREME COURT HEARS ARGUMENTS TODAY ON A CALIFORNIA LAW BANNING THE SALE OR RENTAL OF VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 WITH HEFTY FINES AS A PENALTY. SUPPORTERS OF THE LAW SAY VIOLENT GAMES ARE HARMFUL TO CHILDREN. BUT VIDEO-GAME COMPANIES SAY IT'S A FIRST AMENDMENT ISSUE. LOWER COURTS HAVE SIDED WITH GAME MAKERS.

WASHINGTON (AP) - INTELLIGENCE OFFICIALS INTERCEPTED THREE SUSPICIOUS PACKAGES IN SEPTEMBER THAT THEY NOW SUSPECT WERE SENT TO THE U.S. AS A DRY RUN FOR LAST WEEK'S MAIL BOMB PLOT. AN INTELLIGENCE OFFICIAL ALSO SAYS THE TWO BOMBS INTERCEPTED FRIDAY WERE WIRED TO DETONATORS THAT USED CELL PHONE TECHNOLOGY. IT'S STILL NOT CLEAR HOW THE DETONATORS WOULD HAVE BEEN SET OFF. THE MAIL BOMBS WERE SENT FROM YEMEN.
