MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., the nation's oldest brewer, has signed a letter of intent to buy a Memphis plant. Yuengling Chief Operating Officer David Casinelli told The Commercial Appeal there are serious discussions about the plant now owned by Hardy Bottling Co., but said the deal isn't closed. The proposed sale was first reported Thursday by The Wall Street Journal, which said the Memphis plant would become the fourth brewing plant for Pennsylvania-based Yuengling and help the brand expand beyond 13 Eastern states. The Commercial Appeal said Carolyn Hardy, an owner of the plant, told a committee of the Memphis & Shelby County Industrial Development Board on Wednesday that beer would be again brewed
there. Hardy's company bought it to bottle nonalcoholic drinks.

ERIE, Pa. (AP) - Federal prosecutors yesterday began making
their case against an Erie woman accused of being part of a scheme
to lock a bomb onto a pizza deliveryman's neck and force him to rob
a bank. Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong's lawyer says she will take the
stand as she fights the charges in the 2003 incident, which killed
the deliveryman when the bomb went off.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - House Democratic leaders have summoned
lawmakers back to Harrisburg come Monday in their stalemate with
the Senate. A spokesman says lawmakers will go over the Senate's
changes to a pension reform bill. Talks also continue on a bill to
tax the state's natural gas industry.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Democrat Joe Sestak began this month with
a slight campaign cash edge over his Republican rival for the

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says tax breaks to
businesses for overseas job creation don't make sense. In his
weekly radio and Internet address, Obama renews his call for
Congress to close tax breaks that reward some U.S. companies with
overseas subsidiaries. Obama says tax breaks should be a reward for
creating jobs here.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republicans say Bush era tax cuts should be
extended before the midterm election. In the weekly GOP radio and
Internet address, Indiana Rep. Mike Pence urges House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi of California to call Congress back into session to take an
immediate vote on whether to extend the tax cuts.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Voters in Nevada can get a jump on the midterm
elections starting today. Early voting is starting with a marquee
senate race still neck and neck. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
and tea party favorite Sharron Angle are turning their attention to
getting out the vote. While Nevada has more registered Democrats
than Republicans, the Angle camp hopes voter anger with the
government will help their cause.

AMSTERDAM (AP) - A prominent Dutch terrorism suspect now says
