FATAL FIRE IN ASHLAND

Fire claimed the life of an Ashland man this morning. Fire Chief Phil Groody tells WPPA/T102 News that the alarm came in around 9:30am to respond to 1800 Centre Street. The apartment building housed a father and son on the first floor, and a family on the upper floor. Reports indicate that the son tried to rescue the father, but was unable to, and the man perished. The son was taken to the hospital for treatment. Neither have been identified by authorities as yet. There are no other reported injuries. Groody credited quick work by firefighters for containing the blaze to one building.
