WATER BOIL ADVISORY
ALL CUSTOMERS SERVED BY THE PINE GROVE WATER AUTHORITY ARE UNDER A BOIL ADVISORY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. OFFICIALS SAY A WATER MAIN BREAK IS TO BLAME, AFFECTING OVER 1-THOUSAND CUSTOMERS.
CAR FLIPS ON 61
A READING MAN ESCAPED INJURY AFTER HIS CAR FLIPPED ON ROUTE 61 LAST NIGHT. SCHUYLKILL HAVEN STATE POLICE SAY 26 YEAR OLD HECTOR CABRERA WAS NORTHBOUND NEAR THE CRESSONA MALL AT AN APPARENT HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN HE SWERVED HIS CAR, HIT AN EMBANKMENT AND FLIPPED OVER FIVE TIMES. POLICE SAY CABRERA HAD AN ODOR OF ALCOHOL ON HIM AND FAILED A FIELD SOBRIETY TEST. HE WAS ARRESTED AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR A BLOOD TEST. THE CRASH HAPPENED BEFORE 6PM LAST NIGHT.
KEROSENE TAKEN
STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE THEFT OF FUEL FROM A HEGINS MAN'S HOME. ANTHONY ATRZ SAYS THAT DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF THE YEAR, SOMEONE STOLE 98 GALLONS OF KEROSENE FROM THE OUTDOOR TANK AT HIS HOME ON DEER LANE IN HUBLEY TOWNSHIP.
SMOKE REPORTED AT PENN STATE APARTMENTS
ALL SCHUYLKILL HAVEN FIRE COMPANIES WERE CALLED TO PENN STATE SCHUYLKILL APARTMENTS LAST EVENING FOR A REPORT OF SMOKE. OFFICIALS SAY THAT BURNED FOOD WAS TO BLAME. STUDENTS WERE EVACUATED, BUT RETURNED TO THEIR APARTMENTS A SHORT TIME LATER. STUDENTS ARE RETURNING TO CLASSES TODAY FROM THE WINTER BREAK.
INMATE SUES FRACKVILLE OFFICIALS
AN INMATE AT SCI/FRACKVILLE IS SUING CORRECTION OFFICIALS FOR GETTING A SKIN DISEASE. THE REPUBLICAN HERALD REPORTS THAT LARRY KRESSLER, AN INMATE SINCE 2002, SAYS HE WAS PUT IN A CELL WITH ANOTHER INMATE WHO HAS SCABIES, A SKIN DISEASE, AND THAT HE CAUGHT IT. THE SUIT SAYS THAT KRESSLER FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO HAVE THE OTHER INMATE TAKEN FROM THE CELL, BUT OFFICIALS GAVE THE INMATE MEDICATION WHICH CLEARED THE PROBLEM. IT WAS DETERMINED LATER THAT HE DID CONTRACT THE SKIN DISEASE. KRESSLER IS ASKING FOR DAMAGES, A JURY TRIAL AND BE APPOINTED A LAWYER TO REPRESENT HIM.

ALLENTOWN, PA. (AP) - THE SHOOTING DEATH OF AN 8-YEAR-OLD ALLENTOWN BOY HAS BEEN RULED AN ACCIDENT. THE LEHIGH COUNTY CORONER SAYS JOSE ALVARADO JR. WAS KILLED BY A GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE CHEST FRIDAY AFTER HE GOT HOLD OF THE GUN AND IT WENT OFF.
