VOTER POLLING PLACE CHANGED

VOTERS WILL TAKE TO THE POLLS TUESDAY, BUT THERE IS A CHANGE IN LOCATION FOR VOTERS IN THE BOROUGH OF MECHANICSVILLE. THE SITE HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THE MECHANICSVILLE FIRE COMPANY TO LESSIE'S GARDEN AND GIFT SHOP GREENHOUSE CRAFT ROOM AT 2 PARK STREET. THE POLLS ACROSS THE COUNTY WILL OPEN AT 7AM AND REMAIN OPEN UNTIL 8PM TUESDAY. A SLEW OF LOCAL RACES ARE ON THE BALLOT, WITH SEVERAL COUNTY ROW OFFICES AND A STATE SUPREME COURT SEAT UP FOR GRABS. TEENAGER STRUCK BY CAR
 
STATE POLICE AT SCHUYLKILL HAVEN ARE REPORTING THAT A TEENAGED GIRL WAS STRUCK BY A CAR SATURDAY. THE UNIDENTIFIED 16 YEAR OLD SUFFERED MODERATE INJURIES AS SHE WAS WALKING ALONG ROUTE 183 NEAR CRESSONA. 52 YEAR OLD EDWARD MILLER OF PINE GROVE WAS STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY BEHIND A TRACTOR TRAILER, AND THE GIRL STOPPED TO LET THE TRUCK PASS AND THEN ENTERED THE ROADWAY. THE GIRL ROLLED ONTO THE VEHICLE'S HOOD AND HER HEAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. SHE WAS TAKEN TO SCHUYLKILL MEDICAL CENTER SOUTH FOR TREATMENT. POLICE SAY THAT NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED.

MISSING TEEN FOUND

A FOLLOW UP ON THE STORY OF A TEENAGED GIRL REPORTED MISSING. ASHLEY ADAMS WAS REPORTED MISSING THURSDAY, AND NOW STATE POLICE SAY THE GIRL WAS FOUND IN POTTSVILLE ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY NIGHT CRASH

A TAMAQUA MAN WAS INJURED IN A CRASH ON SATURDAY NIGHT NEAR CLAMTOWN. FRACKVILLE STATE POLICE SAY 20 YEAR OLD DMITRY PARTIN WAS DRIVING EAST ON ROUTE 443 WHEN HIS CAR BEGAN TO SPIN CLOCKWISE AND LEFT THE ROADWAY, ROLLED OVER AND TRAVELED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT WHERE IT STRUCK A TREE AND CAME TO REST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. PARTIN HAD TO BE FLOWN TO ST LUKE'S HOSPITAL, BETHLEHEM FOR TREATMENT.

BUGS, BUGS EVERYWHERE

IN AN AUTUMN RITUAL AS SURE AS FALLING FOLIAGE, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PENNSYLVANIANS ARE LOCKED IN BATTLE WITH LADYBUGS, BEETLES AND OTHER INSECT INVADERS. A SPECIALIST IN PENN STATE'S COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES SAYS BUG SPRAYS WON'T WIN THIS WAR. GARY ABDULLAH HAS THE REPORT:

ACCDIENTAL FIRE

AN ELECTRICAL FIRE SUNDAY MORNING DAMAGES A HOME IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP. STATE POLICE CORPORAL KEVIN REICHERT SAYS ERIC REBER OF ROLLING VIEW DRIVE RETURNED HOME AND FOUND THE REAR OF THE HOME ON FIRE, APPARENTLY CAUSED BY AN OUTLET IN THE KITCHEN AREA. REBER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES AND SMOKE INHALATION WHEN HE RUSHED INTO THE HOME TO SAVE THREE PETS INSIDE. QUICK WORK FROM FIRE CREWS SAVED THE REMAINDER OF THE PROPERTY FROM FIRE DAMAGE.

TREVORTON MAN INJURED IN CRASH ON ROUTE 183

A TREVORTON MAN WAS HURT SUNDAY WHEN HIS CAR CRASHED ALONG ROUTE 183 NEAR THE BERKS COUNTY LINE IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP. STATE POLICE SAY 45 YEAR OLD FRANCIS BARTLEY JR. BECAME DISTRACTED WHEN ATTMPTING TO ADJUST HIS SUN VISOR AND HE LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE, CROSSING OVER INTO THE SOUTHBOUND LANE AND FLIPPED ONTO ITS ROOF. THE CAR SLID ON ITS ROOF ABOUT 46 FEET. BARTLEY HAD MULTIPLE INJURIES. THE CRASH HAPPENED AROUND 2:30
SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

FLYING PUMPKINS

STATE TROOPERS ARE LOOKING FOR THE CULPRITS WHO TOOK HALLOWEEN A BIT TOO FAR IN PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP SATURDAY NIGHT. ITS UNCLEAR HOW MANY PRANKSTERS THERE WERE TOSSING PUMPKINS ONTO INTERSTATE 81 FROM THE SWOPES VALLEY ROAD OVERPASS. NO ONE WAS INJURED.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - NEGOTIATORS FOR PHILADELPHIA'S TRANSIT AGENCY AND ITS LARGEST UNION ARE SCHEDULED TO MEET AT 10 A.M. THIS MORNING AT GOV. ED RENDELL'S REGIONAL OFFICE IN A PHILADELPHIA HOTEL. DERRY, PA. (AP) - FUNERAL SERVICES ARE SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA FOR A WOMAN AND HER 2-YEAR-OLD SON STRUCK AND KILLED BY A TRAIN WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE TRACKS. AUTHORITIES IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY SAY SHEILA SINGER OF DERRY AND HER CHILDREN WERE COMING BACK FROM A SHOPPING TRIP WHEN THE TODDLER'S STROLLER BECAME STUCK ON THE TRACKS.

HARRISBURG, PA. (AP) - A CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH DRUNKEN DRIVING AND HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE IN A CRASH THAT KILLED A TAXICAB DRIVER AND ONE OF HIS PASSENGERS LAST MONTH. HARRISBURG POLICE SAY ANDREW DENEZZA'S CAR CROSSED THE CENTER LINE ON HARRISBURG'S MARKET STREET BRIDGE AT ABOUT 2:35 A.M. ON OCT. 3 AND HIT THE TAXI HEAD-ON.
