STATE POLICE SAY 52 YEAR OLD SANDRA BEDLEYOUNG WAS TRAVELING ON STATE ROUTE 4012 AT AN APPARENT HIGH RATE OF SPEED. SHE FAILED TO NEGOTIATE A SHARP RIGHT CURVE AND WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT INTO A CREEK, THEN HIT THE BANK ON THE OTHER SIDE. SHE WAS TAKEN TO HERSHEY MEDICAL CENTER. THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AROUND 5:30AM.

MAN MAKES FALSE STATEMENTS BUYING FIREARM

A FRACKVILLE MAN IS CHARGED WITH MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS WHILE BUYING A FIREARM. WHILE THE PURCHASE WAS MADE IN DECEMBER, STATE POLICE HAVE ARRESTED ALLEN ZIMMERMAN FOR MAKING ALLEGED FALSE STATEMENTS WHEN HE BOUGHT THE GUN AT ON-TARGET SHOP IN FRACKVILLE. ZIMMERMAN WAS ARRAIGNED AND RELEASED ON $10-THOUSAND DOLLARS UNSECURED BAIL.

PA. SCHOOL GUARD CHARGED WITH THREAT TO PRINCIPAL

SHENANDOAH, PA. (AP) – A FORMER SCHOOL SECURITY GUARD ACCUSED OF THREATENING TO KILL THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND REFERRING TO A SCHOOL MASSACRE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH FELONY TERRORISTIC THREATS. SHENANDOAH PATROLMAN GEORGE CARADO SAID POLICE HAD BEEN CALLED TO THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY JUNIOR-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ON THURSDAY AFTER A CUSTODIAN FOUND A WEEKLY SUPERVISOR'S REPORT THAT INCLUDED THE STATEMENT "I REQUEST TIME OFF TO SLIT THE THROAT OF THE CURRENT PRINCIPAL." HE SAID ANOTHER STATEMENT SAID "THERE WILL BE ANOTHER VIRGINIA TECH SITUATION AND NO ONE WILL CARE, THIS TOWN DOESN'T EXIST." CINTRON WAS TAKEN TO SCHUYLKILL COUNTY PRISON IN LIEU OF $50,000
BAIL.

RENDELL SETS NEW BUDGET DEADLINE, DESPITE BARRIERS

HARRISBURG, PA. (AP) - GOV. ED RENDELL SAYS HE HOPES TO BE SIGNING PENNSYLVANIA'S STATE BUDGET ON SUNDAY, BUT ACKNOWLEDGES THERE ARE NUMEROUS DETAILS YET TO BE RESOLVED. IT'S BEEN 10 DAYS SINCE RENDELL AND TOP LEGISLATIVE LEADERS TRUMPETED A BREAKTHROUGH AGREEMENT TO END THE STATE'S THREE-MONTH-OLD BUDGET IMPASSE. BUT THE DETAILS HE PROMISED TO RELEASE HAVEN'T BEEN FORTHCOMING, AND RENDELL SAYS HE WANTS THE LEGISLATURE TO CONVENE AND STAY IN SESSION UNTIL THE PLAN IS FINAL.
