Day 5 - Shenandoah Trial

Over the last hour and forty minutes, defense attorneys Jeffrey Markosky and Fred Fanelli offered closing arguments in the Shenandoah beating trial. Both attorneys sought to discredit the prosecution's case against Derrick Donchak and Brandon Piekarsky. Both are charged in connection with the death of Luis Ramirez in Shenandoah in 2008.The defense stated they believed that the evidence presented by witnesses clearly showed that their clients, while fighting with Luis Ramirez, did not kick him in the head nor land the blow that felled Ramirez to the street. The boys were defending themselves against an agressive Ramirez. Both attorneys kept bringing up Brisn Scully, Colin Walsh and Josh Redmonds inconsistent stories told to police and on the stand.Of particular note was Fanelli's criticism of DA investigator Tony Carroll's incomplete examination of the shoes worn by the kicker that night, and accused Brian Scully of that action. The courtroom is full.
