STATE NEWS

YORK, Pa. (AP) - A York County jury has convicted a man of
manslaughter in the slaying and partial dismemberment of his
brother a year ago. Justin Carbaugh took the stand in his own
defense, claiming his brother Brandon was armed and threatened him.
Carbaugh's mother says she's happy for the conviction on the
manslaughter charge since a first-degree murder conviction could
have meant a life prison term.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The ongoing contract talks with stagehands
has prompted the Philadelphia Orchestra to move the location for
its season opening night. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports members
of the stagehands' union went on strike after their contract
expired last week. Bargaining with the Kimmel Center so far has
failed to produce a new deal.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The Commonwealth Court says the state
Senate cannot redact the names of clients from legal bills it
releases to the public. The appeals court ruled the Senate was
wrong to take out the names and descriptions of legal services when
it provided the records to an AP reporter. The Senate had argued
the redactions were a matter of attorney-client privilege.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A federal judge has ordered four Georgia men
to remain jailed on charges they recruited homeless people to cash
forged business checks at Pittsburgh area banks. The Pittsburgh
Tribune-Review reports the men offered homeless people and
prostitutes a cut of the proceeds to cash the checks -- at times
buying them clothing to make them look respectable.

NATIONAL NEWS

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama continues to promote
his $450 billion jobs bill while Republicans maintain their
opposition. Obama used his weekly media message to appeal to
supporters to contact their elected representatives. In the GOP
address, South Dakota Sen. John Thune says the bill is more of the
"same failed ideas."

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney
is hoping to win points with social conservatives today when he
delivers and economy-heavy appeal. He'll speak to the Values Voters
Summit where some voters say they're willing to listen because of
the weak economy.

SIRTE, Libya (AP) - Revolutionary fighters are preparing for a
renewed assault on one of the last bastions of support for fugitive
Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Anti-Gadhafi forces are shelling the
former leader's hometown of Sirte and have pushed to within less
than half a mile of loyalist positions.

ISLAMABAD, (AP) - There are signs of a relaxation in strained
U.S.-Pakistan relations after Pakistani forces arrested some
al-Qaida suspects at the CIA's request and allowed access to the
detainees. Officials also say that for now, Pakistan has stopped
demanding an end to covert drone strikes. Meanwhile, Pakistani
police say they have foiled a terror plot in the capital, arresting
two suspects.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Stand by for Steve Jobs -- the movie. Sony's
movie studio is in final talks to acquire the movie rights to the
highly anticipated authorized biography of the Apple co-founder
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. Jobs died on Wednesday.
