GILBERTON WATER PROBLEM FIXED
A BROKEN PUMP THAT GOT RID OF MILLIONS OF GALLONS OF UNDERGROUND MINE WATER IS BACK IN SERVICE, TAKING A THREAT OF FLOODING AWAY FROM GILBERTON. THAT WORD COMES FROM MARK CARMON OF D.E.P. WHO TOLD US FRIDAY MORNING THAT THE PUMP WAS REMOVED AND SENT TO A COMPANY IN YORK TO BE REPAIRED. RESIDENTS IN A SECTION OF THE NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL COUNTY BOROUGH WERE ASKED TO MOVE ITEMS IN THEIR BASEMENTS TO HIGHER GROUND IN THE EVENT THAT FLOODING TOOK PLACE. AND, ADDITIONAL HELP WAS GIVEN FROM WMPI PROCESSORS AND GILBERTON POWER HELPED GET RID OF THE WATER INTO THE MAHANOY CREEK WITH TEMPORARY PUMPS. CARMON SAID THAT THE WATER LEVEL HAS DROPPED BY MORE THAN 5 FEET SINCE THE PUMP BECAME OPERATIONAL AGAIN.
STATE POLICE K9 FINDS DRUGS AT BLUE MOUNTAIN

DIAZ WAS CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL ATTEMPT TO COMMIT CRIMINAL HOMICIDE, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING ANOTHER PERSON, SIMPLE ASSAULT AND FLEEING OR ELLUDING POLICE AFTER AN INCIDENT MARCH 13TH IN THE CITY OF POTTSVILLE BY TRYING TO RUN OVER A POLICE OFFICER. CHARGES WERE ALSO HELD OVER FROM DIAZ ALLEGEDLY THREATENING TO KILL A POTTSVILLE WOMAN WHO WAS COOPERATING WITH THE SCHUYLKILL COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE.

STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A BURGLARY AT A HOME ON WEST BACON STREET IN PALO ALTO. SOME TIME BETWEEN 6:30 THURSDAY MORNING AND 4:20 THURSDAY AFTERNOON SOMEONE FORCED THEIR WAY THROUGH THE BACKDOOR OF THE RESIDENCE AND MADE OFF WITH AN XBOX 360 VIDEO GAME, DEWALT CORDLESS DRILL AND SAWZALL, A LAP TOP COMPUTER AND APPROXIMATELY $200 IN CASH.
