A POTTSVILLE MAN WAS ARRESTED FRIDAY NIGHT IN THE CITY.ACCORDING TO POTTSVILLE POLICE 41 YEAR OLD STEVEN ROWE TRIED TO FORCIBLY ENTER AN OCCUPIED STRUCTURE AT 313 W. NOREGIAN STREET ABOUT 8:10 FRIDAY NIGHT.ROWE WAS ARRAIGNED BEFORE DISTRICT MAGISTRATE STEPHEN BAYER ON CHARGES OF BURGLARY AND SIMPLE ASSAULT PURSUANT TO A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE.

A MALFUNCTIONING MICROWAVE IS BLAMED FOR A FIRE THAT LEFT TWO PEOPLE HOMELESS SUNDAY MORNING IN THE 700 BLOCK OF EAST DEWART ST.THE HOME OF 72 YEAR OLD FRANK STELMA AND 49 YEAR OLD DARLENE KOPITSKI WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED BY THE BLAZE THAT BROKE OUT ABOUT 10:40 AM SUNDAY.THE FIRE WAS FIRST DISCOVERED BY SHAMOKIN POLICE OFFICER CPL.EDWARD GRIFFITHS ,WHO WAS DRIVING ON A ROUTINE PATROL THROUGH THE CITYS BUNKER HILL SECTION..THE OFFICER WAS MET BY NEIGHBORS WHO WORKED QUICK TO OPEN THE HOMES FRONT DOOR.STELMA AND KOPITISKI HAD ALREADY MADE IT OUTSIDE AND INTO THEIR BACK YARD BUT WERE TRAPPED THERE UNTILL EMERGENCY PERSONAL TOOK THE COUPLE TO SAFETY.SHAMOKIN FIRE CHIEF BILL MILIBRAND SAID THE BLAZE WAS AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTIONING MICROWAVE OVEN.MILIBRAND SAID THE COUPLE HAS INSURANCE AND ESTIMATED THE DAMAGE OF 30,000 DOLLARS.

A CRESSONA WOMAN WAS NOT HURT IN A ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED SUNDAY MORNING.STATE POLICE AT SCH.HAVEN REPORT THAT JENNIFER HOUTZ AGE 32 WAS TRAVELING EAST ON FRONT STREET WHEN SHE TRIED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ONTO MAPLE STREET AND LOST CONTROL OF HER FORD EXPLORER SLID IN A SOUTHEASTERLY DIRECTION AND STRUCK A STONE WALL WITH ITS LEFT FRONT POLICE SAY HOUTZ WAS WEARING HER SEATBELT.
