FAIRLESS HILLS, Pa. (AP) - Police in Bucks County have found a
body in a minivan not far from the area where a missing 32-year-old
mother of three was last seen on Wednesday. Police say they have
confirmed the van is that of 32-year-old Gina Bobbing-Mormando of
Bristol Township.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - More than 40 amendments have been filed
in time to be considered when the House takes up a drastic revision
to the state Right-to-Know Law today. Democratic leader Bill
DeWeese is urging Republicans to work for a bipartisan result in
the House.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A coalition of states that includes
Pennsylvania and environmental groups is urging the federal
government to curb pollution from airplanes. They plan to file a
petition today, asking for regulation of greenhouse gas emissions
from domestic and foreign aircraft.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The governors of Pennsylvania, Maryland
and Virginia and the mayor of Washington will meet in Annapolis
today for talks about the Chesapeake Bay. They will discuss
restoring the bay. Scientists water quality goals already in place
are unlikely to be met.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania environmental group says
its analysis of weather data since 1948 shows storms that dump
heavier-than-normal amounts of rain are becoming much more
frequent. They increased 41 percent in Pennsylvania -- and 24
percent nationally.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - Oil prices have risen
above $90 a barrel today after OPEC decided against a hike in
production. The oil producing countries will review the decision at
a meeting early next year.
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) - The U.S. intelligence report that
concludes Iran has stopped its nuclear weapons program is prompting
more reaction on both sides. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
calls it a "declaration of victory." Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice says the release of the report is proof that
President Bush is committed to "transparent democracy," which she
hopes Iran may someday have as well.
EVERETT, Mass. (AP) - As many as 40 cars have caught fire in
suburban Boston after a tanker truck carrying about 9,000 gallons
of gas overturned on an interstate and burst into flames early this
morning. Residents have been evacuated in the area, but there are
no reports of serious injuries.
CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) - Residents of the Pacific Northwest are
waiting for water to recede after two days of high winds and heavy
rain. Flooding has shut down a stretch of a main interstate in the
region at least through tomorrow. The storm has claimed at least
seven lives.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - There's word that the cardinal of the Los
Angeles Archdiocese was attacked last summer by one or more people
angered by the Catholic Church's sexual-abuse scandal. A California
priest says Cardinal Roger Mahony told several priests about the
attack, which left him hospitalized. An archdiocese spokeswoman is
declining comment.
