SHENANDOAH - A Shenandoah man will spend several more years in prison on burglary c charges, after sentencing in county court. Before Judge John Domalakes, 22-year-old Anthony Navarro was sentenced to two to eight years in state prison, consecutive to a current sentence he’s already serving. The Republican and Herald indicates that Navarro was found guilty on September 7th of burglary, conspiracy, criminal trespass and other offenses. Judge Domalakes handed down two sentences, one on the burglary charge, and the other on conspiracy charges. Navarro broke into Armondo's Pizza in January, 2006. A co-conspirator, Kyle Crouch of Morea, is serving state prison time for the burglary, and other incidents, according to reports.

SHENANDOAH - A Shenandoah couple were arrested by borough police on drug charges. David and Tabitha Murphy of West Coal Street were arrested on two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor counts of the same charges. The Murphy's sold cocaine to confidential informants on several occasions in September. They were arraigned via video conference at the Schuylkill County Prison. David Murphy is incarcerated on $25-thousand-dollars percentage bail and Tabitha Murphy is imprisoned on $20-thousand-dollars percentage bail.

ALLENTOWN - The Diocese of Allentown has heard from its parishioners about how to restructure some of their churches. The Republican and Herald reports that during services at diocesan parishes in September, members were asked for their input to develop guidelines for restructuring. A number of guidelines have been formulated from the surveys, pertaining to number of priests to members in the diocese, mergers of congregations and financial considerations, among others. Nearly 60-thousand people responded to the surveys.

TOWER CITY - State police are looking for the individual who is dumping tires on a Route 209 property near Tower City. Sometime during the overnight Thursday, about two dozen tires were dumped at Weaver's Service Station. In addition, car parts, broken seats and windshields had also been dumped there during the previous week. Police are attempting to find the culprit through serial numbers, and inspection stickers. The fine for dumping on the property of another ranges from $50 to $1000. If convicted, a person could face up to a year in prison.

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - The body of an unidentified person found June eighth near Mahanoy Creek in Northumberland County has now officially been determined to be that of missing 42-year-old Sherry Wolfgang of Mt. Carmel. She had been missing from the home she shared with her husband 47-year-old Steven Wolfgang since January 5th. Mr. Wolfgang allegedly admitted that he killed his wife and stuffed her body in a metal box before dumping it in a creek. Wolfgang was found near the woman's burned out S-U-V near Helfenstein in Eldred Township, Schuylkill County. Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley made the determination Friday with the aid of D-N-A testing. Northumberland County District Attorney Tony Rosini said that before official charges can be filed against Steven Wolfgang, a report from anthropologist Dr. Dirk Maat at Mercyhurst College in Erie, who studied the body, and a report from pathologist Dr. Samuel Land of the Lehigh Valley Medical Center, will be needed to determine exactly how Wolfgang died. Rosini suspects the reports will determine Wolfgang died at the hands of her husband. From there Rosini says homicide charges will be filed by the end of the year.

BLYTHE TOWNSHIP - A Cumbola man died yesterday in a crash near the borough of Port Carbon. State police say that 26-year-old Jessie Lee Perry was driving north on Route 209 when he lost control, and struck a utility pole and a tree. Perry's car continued to rollover, and he was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Coroner David Dutcavich. Troopers say he was not wearing his seatbelt.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf has declared a state of emergency. That's according to state TV. The moves comes ahead of a crucial Supreme Court decision on whether to overturn his recent election win.

ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has been playing go-between with Turkish and Iraqi officials as escalating tensions along the Turkish-Iraqi border overshadowed an international meeting on Iraq's future. Iraqi authorities today shut down the office of a Kurdish political party alleged to have ties to separatist rebels.

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION (AP) - A ripped space station solar energy panel has NASA's full attention as astronauts work to make crucial repairs. One astronaut will try to clear whatever snagged the panels and tore the wing in two places while it was being unfurled on Tuesday.

DETROIT (AP) - The United Auto Workers union says it has reached a tentative four-year contract agreement with Ford. Details of the agreement were not immediately released, but the deal likely will be similar to those negotiated with General Motors and Chrysler.

LEXINGTON, Neb. (AP) - A prosecutor says a Nebraska schoolteacher and the boy she allegedly ran off with have been apprehended in Mexico. Authorities say the teacher and the boy fled after police began investigating whether the pair had an intimate relationship. The teacher was arrested, while the boy was turned over to relatives.
