COUNTY COURT.DISTRICT MAGISTRATE STEPHEN BAYER HELD ALL CHARGES OVER FOR COURT AFTER A PRELIMINARY HEARING TUESDAY.ACCORDING TO THE REPUBLICAN AND HERALD 35 YEAR OLD JAMES HUBIAK OF STATE ROAD WAS ARRESTED AUGUST 13 AFTER A 2 DAY MANHUNT.POLICE ALLEGE HE RAPED A GIRL AT A HOME WHERE SHE HAD COME TO FEED A PET WHILE THE OWNERS WERE ON VACATION.HUBIAK REMAINED IN SCH COUNTY PRISON ON TUESDAY NIGHT IN LIUE OF 50,000 BAIL.

A SCH HAVEN WOMAN FACES CHARGES OF SIMPLE ASSAULT UNDER THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LAW AFTER A PHYSICAL ALTERCATION TUESDAY AFTERNOON.ACCORDING TO POTTSVILLE POLICE UNITS RESPONDED TO A CALL IN THE AREA OF 7TH AND MARKET STREETS WHERE 26 YEAROLD CHRIS WOOD OF POTTSVILLE REPORTED TO POLICE THAT HE AND 20 YEAROLD JAMIE WAGNER WOODS GIRLFRIEND BECAME INVOLVED IN A PHYSICAL ALTERCATION.WOOD HAD VISIBLE BLEEDING SCRATCHES ON HIS NECK THAT HE SAID WERE CAUSED WHEN WAGNER SLAPPED AND SCRATCHED HIM.WAGNER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND ARRAIGNED BEFORE DISTRICT JUDGE STEPHEN BAYER AND WAS RELEASED ON 5,000 UNSECURED BAIL.

AN ASHLAND MAN IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AND A FRACKVILLE WOMAN IS IN FAIR CONDITION FOLLOWING A CRASH SUNDAY NIGHT IN BARRY TOWNSHIP.ACCORDING TO STATE POLICE AT SCH HAVEN 42 YEAR OLD DAVID KULP OF ASHLAND WAS DRIVING HIS MOTORCYCLE EAST ON DEEP CREEK ROAD AT 9 07 SUNDAY EVENING WHEN HE FAILED TO NEGOTIATE A CURVR AND STRUCK A DIRT BANK.BOTH KULP AND HIS PASSENGER 37 YEAR OLD MARGURITE DEANGELIS OF FRACKVILLE WERE THROWN OFF AND NEITHER WAS WEARING A HELMET.BOTH SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AND WERE FLOWN TO GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER.THE ROADWAY WAS CLOSED FOR 2 HOURS WHILE EMERGENCY CREWS CLEARED THE SCENE.

THE NORTH CENTRAL PA REGIONAL SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT AND EXPANDED DUI/UNDERAGE DRINKING ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM CONDUCTED A ROVING DUI PATROL ON AUGUST 11.A TOTAL OF 53 VEHICLES WERE CONTACTED WITH 1 DRIVER TESTED FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND 2 UNDERAGE DRINKING ARREST.THERE WERE 23 OTHER TRAFFIC ARREST ,2 SEATBELT CITATIONS,4 CRIMINAL ARREST AND 28 WARNINGS ISSUED.5 POLICE DEPARTMENTS PARTICAPATED.THE CHECKPOINT IS PART OF THE NORTH CENTRAL HIGHWAY REGIONAL SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT AND EXPANDED DUI/UNDRAGE DRINKING ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGH THE PA. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION.

THE SCH TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR A 104,000 GRANT AS PART OF PA. WELFARE TO WORK TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM TO HELP LOW INCOME RESIDENTS IN 31 COUNTIES GET WORK.GOV ED RENDELL ANNOUNCED THE 2,35 MILLION INVESTMENT IN THE STATE PROGRAM TUSDAY.ACCORDING TO RENDELL THE PROGRAM IS CRITICAL TO HELPING PEOPLE OVERCOME TRANSPORTATION BARRIERS THAT PREVIOUSLY PREVENTED THEM FROM WORKING.RENDELL SAYS THAT BY OFFERING THEM A CHANCE TO BE INDEPENDENT AND PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES.REPRESENTATIVES OF THE SAINT CLAIR BASED STS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR COMMENT TUESDAY EVENING.

MAHANOY CITY COUNCIL HAS AGREEDTO ADD ITS NAME TO A GROWING LIST OF SUPPORTORS OF A PROPOSED CARGO AIRPORT.DURING TUESDAYS MEETING THE COUNCIL APPROVED PROCLAMATION SUPPORTING AND ENCOURAGING GLADSTONE PARTNERS LLC AND ELECTED AND APPOINTED STATE OFFICALS TO BEGIN AND COMPLETE THE PROJECT SO THAT THE BOROUGH CAN BENEFIT FROM THE ANTICIPATED ECONOMIS AND SOCIAL PLUSES.SIMILAR ORDINANCES HAVE BEEN PASSED IN GIRADVILLE.SHENADOAH AND OTHER MUNICIPALITIES NEAR THE AREA OF THE PROPOSED AIRPORT IN SOUTHWESTERN LUZERNE AND NORTHEASTERN SCH COUNTIES.GLADSTONE PARTNERS HAS PROPOSED THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE AIRPORT AND INTERMODEL TRANSPORTATION FACILITY SUPPORTERS CLAIM WILL RESULT IN ABOUT 4500 DIRECT JOBS AND ABOUT 161.000 INDIRECT JOBS AND WILL EMPLOY ABOUT 600 CONSTRUCTION AND SKILLED TRADES PEOPLE FOR SOME 5 YEARS.MAHANOY COUNCIL MEMBERS SAID THE PROJECT WILL RESULT IN SIGNIFICANT AND SUSTAIABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR THE REGION.
