VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Benedict raised what the Vatican describes as "the worrisome situation in Iraq" with President Bush, during their first-ever meeting in Rome. The Vatican says the pontiff raised concerns about Christians in Iraq and expressed hope for a "regional" and "negotiated" solution of the conflicts afflicting the Middle East.

BAGHDAD (AP) - An apparent rocket attack on a U-S-run detention facility in southern Iraq has killed six detainees and wounded another 50. The U-S military reports no American casualties. And police in Baghdad report a suicide car bomber struck an Iraqi army checkpoint, killing at least 12 Iraqi soldiers.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (AP) - A small rip in the thermal blankets that wrap the space shuttle Atlantis has NASA scientists a little worried. The area of the shuttle where the tear is located isn't prone to heat problems on re-entry, but the severity of the problem will be assessed today during inspections.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush is trying to breathe life back into a bipartisan immigration reform bill, which all but died this week on Capitol Hill. In his weekly radio address, he calls the legislation imperfect, but says it is the best option available.

PARIS (AP) - Justine Henin has won her third consecutive French Open title. She beat out 19-year-old Serb Ana Ivanovic six-one in the first set and six-two in the second during the women's final.
