FREDONIA, Pa. (AP) - Police say a Mercer County woman stole more than 141-thousand dollars from a woman her husband had power of attorney for. Judy Fagan, who is from Delaware Township, was arraigned yesterday on theft, identify theft and forgery charges. Police say her husband, John, got power of attorney for the 82-year-old woman in 1999 after her husband died. He had handled their finances. The woman contacted an attorney after discovering money may havebeen missing. The attorney found money had been withdrawn from several accounts. Police say some of the money had been used for the Fagans' house payment and bills and that she used the woman's money because of depression. Police say John Fagan told them he had no knowledge of his wife's alleged activity. A listed number for Fagan could not immediately be located.

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - Allegheny Energy Incorporated filed an application with the state Public Utility Commission yesterday to construct a high-voltage power line through Greene and Washington counties. The one-point-three (B) billion dollar, 500-kilovolt Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line would stretch 240 miles across West Virginia and into Loudoun County, Virginia. About 37 miles of it would run through Pennsylvania. David Flitman, president of Allegheny Power and its subsidiary, Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line Company, says the project will provide Southwestern Pennsylvania with reliable electric serviceand meet growing demand. Opponents say they believe the line will damage property values and quality of life, while offering few local benefits.
